Hi All,

Attached you will find the minutes from our meeting yesterday…..also an update from Garin regarding the Aurora Massage Establishment Licensure.

Here are the last couple days news articles regarding the Aurora News about Massage Establishment Licensure
• Denver Channel https://goo.gl/hg7ypq
• Aurora Centennial https://goo.gl/hHh8zP

Garin & Laura just spoke to Trevor from the City of Aurora this afternoon (Thursday 1/25/18). They were informed by Trevor that we need to schedule a stakeholder meeting next week (Wed or Thursday), so be aware that we will be sending out another update when we have that information set as well as information on the City Council meeting that is open for public comments. See below Garin response from their meeting with Trevor:

Laura and I just talked to Trevor Vaughn from the City of Aurora. He is very dedicated to this but at the same time he does seem to want to work with us to get a workable ordinance. The draft ordinance was presented to a city council sub-committee last week and they approved to move forward for full review.

The next steps will be industry outreach meetings, so we can start providing feedback on the draft ordinance. He is available next Wednesday or Thursday, so we need to pick a time to offer to him for the first stakeholder meeting.

An edited/updated ordinance will be presented to the whole City Council at a study session, likely on March 5. Industry comments can be included in the presentation, but no public comment is allowed. The final vote will be done at a later date (TBD) at a full City Council meeting. Public comment is allowed at this meeting. People who want to comment will be allowed 3 minutes to present.

The ordinance will likely be effective 30 days following approval by the City Council and right now it looks like there will be a 90-day compliance period for massage businesses to apply for this new license (this 90-day time-frame might be extended depending on the amount of applications that come in that need to be processed).

We need to get this information out to our therapists and start finding people who can participate in the first stakeholder meeting next week. I would like to send Trevor a proposed meeting time by the close of business tomorrow. I’m going to send this information to DORA as well. I’m assuming that there could be things in this ordinance that are covered under state law (he mentioned draping requirements).

Wanted to get this information out to you now, while more information is being prepared to be sent out shortly.
